Truphone raising funds

Two important news in the last week from Truphone – the company redefining definitions in multimedia communications.

First is the purchase of SIM4travel, entering the GSM world. Awaiting the day I will be able to get my global GSM SIM, I see this as the first service that has major interests to unify those two worlds GSM and VoIP – your unique number truly available in both, with no need to purchase a GSM service from another operator.

Second, today their blog stated the news about raising the second round of funds, proving confidence in the service they built.

I am eager to get rid of my 5 SIM cards from different countries I visit often and see next James Body’s presentation about VoIPozaurus having a pink (friendly) pint with the G-semozaurus.

The ROSDEV2008 Weekend

A very busy weekend, here in Bucharest, with one full day of conference, on Saturday, at the ROSDEV2008 event, and the VoIP seminar on Sunday.

The conference, at the second edition, gathered many of the Open Source projects represented by Romanians with good audience up to the final, continued with a dinner.

Dan-Cristian Bogos (middle row, first desk, white shirt) and Elena-Ramona Modroiu (in the middle, also ROSDEV2008 organizer) were the people helping to spread the OPENSER name at the conference, and later, during the evening, at the socialization event.

The VoIP seminar introduced SIP and OPENSER during 4 hours, with attendance from local companies and Computer Science Department of the University in Bucharest.

ROSDEV2008 – Live on Internet

The second edition of Romanian Open Source Development Conference (ROSDEV2008) is taking place tomorrow, April 12, 10:00-18:00, at University “Politehnica” Bucharest, Computer Science Department, Hall EG301. It is an event organized for Open Source developers by Open Source developers.

It is the place to meet lot of Open Source projects, many programmers and companies interested in this philosophy.

I will have a short talk about what means life as Open Source developer, OPENSER and other VoIP technologies.

It is a merit for the organizers to bring one of the top 3 television channels in Romania to broadcast the event on Internet. More details at (Romanian only):

Irina Deleanu Cup 2008

Last Sunday, Apr 6, 2008, was a rainy day, making me thinking what to do to escape my flat and relax before starting a new week.

By chance I learned about Irina Deleanu Cup 2008, a contest for Rhythmic Gymnastics — that was a great event and entertaining time. It is long time since I enjoyed so much my spare time. It is pity that this sport is not promoted better by the authorities.
